Its midnight, both of my girls are fast asleep (I have two little girls under two) my farmer is out spraying and I should really be getting my butt to bed. Instead I am sitting in my kitchen, prepping tomorrow nights supper, trying to figure this whole blog thing out and talking to you 🙂

Since this is my first official post (unless I already managed to screw something up) I feel like I should introduce myself! I go by Megz and I grew up in a big city, yes you heard that right I went from city to farmHer, it only took me 10 years! I used to work in the film industry in AB and BC Canada, doing Set Dec and SPFX. Then I met my farmer and traded film sets for tractor cabs.

I have a real zest for life and dive straight into everything I do head first which sometimes gets me into a little trouble. In 3 years I made the decision to put film on hold and move to the country, got engaged, had two beautiful little girls and have been becoming quite the farmer. . .  If I do say so myself! I have recently gotten back into photography, which has always been a passion of mine and I am not only learning to farm, grow crops, fix machinery, and be a MOM but I have taking on homesteading as well! So much of what I have done in the last 3 years has been new and exciting and I am learning as I go. Its been a complete rollercoaster full of dirt, sweat and occasional tears. Being a Mom, farming and attempting to be self sustaining is not for the faint of heart, but I wouldnt trade it for the world! Please join me in my adventures, learn from my misshaps and grow with my family 🙂

Well I hear my 6.5 month old squawking so I best be  off 🙂image

  1. I love it! You’re a girl close to my heart! I once tipped our tractor over, I was about 19. It scared me to death but I miss the farm life! Keep sharing and blogging!

    • Tipping a tractor over would be so scary! Did you get hurt? I just about gave myself a heart attack the first year I helped with harvest, I stopped the combine to fast on a downhill and started tipping over. Of course the header would prevent a combine from actually going over at 4 mile an hour but it scared the crap out of me!!

  2. Excited to see more from you! Have to admit, I love seeing other women who already have so much on their plates – the farm, the kids, the hobbies – and then add blogging to the list, makes me feel better about not being the only sucker for punishment 😛
